In order to promote the exchange and learning among teachers of the Junior High Department from the east and west campuses and discuss how to improve classroom efficiency under the policy of ‘easing the burden of excessive homework and off-campus tutoring for students undergoing compulsory education’, the chemistry lesson preparation group of the Junior High Department of the east and west campuses held a teaching and research activity of ‘heterogeneous forms for the same subject’ on the morning of October 27th, 2021 in the Junior High Department of the west campus. In attendance were Director Zhang Li of the Teaching Department of the west campus and six chemistry teachers from both campuses.
Specifically, this activity was conducted by teacher Wang Qihai from the west campus and Long Qin from the east campus who carried out the heterogeneous forms for the same sbuject ‘the Structure of Atoms’. Although the teaching contents were the same, however, the classroom teaching structure was different. On the one hand, Wang Qihai fully demonstrated the relationship between atoms and ions by taking the arrangement of electrons outside the nucleus as a supplement and converting atoms into ions through gaining and losing electrons. By contrast, Long Qin explained the formation of atomic structure and ions in details. Although the two teachers had different approaches to the teaching materials, the two classes were both focused and organized, just like the fundamental purpose of the activity ‘heterogeneous forms for the same subject’ is to show their own styles and absorb the advantages of others. Evidently, the two senior teachers demonstrated their skillful teaching skills, flexible teaching methods and created a relaxed and active teaching atmosphere.
Furthermore, all the teachers who participated in the teaching and research activity listened to the lectures carefully and discussed actively after class. Additionally, teachers Zhou Sixin and Zhao Jingjing gave wonderful comments on the two demonstration lessons respectively, and Director Zhang Li of the Teaching Department also provided guidance. They fully affirmed the success of the two classes and pointed out the direction of improvement, which benefited the teachers a lot.
To conclude, the wonderful teaching of the two teachers is like a catalyst for other teachers, promoting the common growth of Anqing Foreign Language School’s teachers and providing a boost for students' progress in the meantime!
